Brussels College's strongest accreditation credential is our affiliation with Northwood University: Northwood-awarded programs carry real, external accreditation from the U.S. Higher Learning Commission. Below that, we also set out Brussels College's own Belgian legal basis — a foundational operating status, not a quality accreditation — and the independent goals we're working toward.

Higher Learning Commission (HLC) & ACBSP

Our authorization to deliver Northwood University's BBA in Management, BS in Computer Science, and MBA comes from the U.S. Higher Learning Commission (HLC), the regional accreditor recognized by the U.S. Department of Education that accredits Northwood University. HLC approved Brussels College as an additional location of Northwood University under its Notification Program for Additional Locations, effective August 2026.

This means our HLC standing is institutional and derivative — it flows from Northwood University's own accreditation rather than being a separate accreditation held by Brussels College itself. Where applicable, Northwood's business programs also carry accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

Belgian Legal Basis — Not an Accreditation

Legal Status, and Our HLC Authorization

Brussels College (Scholaria BV) operates under Belgian law as a Private Higher Education Institution in the Flemish Region, per Article II.75, §5 of the Codex Hoger Onderwijs (2013). This is the standard legal basis under which private higher-education providers in Flanders operate, independent of and prior to the Northwood affiliation — it establishes our right to operate, not a quality accreditation or government endorsement of our programs.

Our authorization to deliver Northwood University degrees comes from the U.S. Higher Learning Commission (HLC), the regional accreditor recognised by the U.S. Department of Education that accredits Northwood University. HLC approved Brussels College as an additional location of Northwood University under its Notification Program for Additional Locations, effective August 2026 — this is the basis for our role as Northwood's International Program Center in Brussels.
